School Closure
Good Afternoon,
In light of the fact that San Diego Unified Schools have closed March 16 through April 5, our high school will be closing as well. Our students will be staying home and receiving their education virtually for the next two weeks. Teachers met with students today to describe for them how they would be receiving their work and instruction. Students were also given an opportunity to check out a chromebook to use during our time away from campus. The students are responsible for the chromebook while they have it in their possession and will need to pay for it if it is lost or damaged. Some teachers sent home packets of materials that the students will be expected to complete. Most teachers will be using Google Classroom or some other platform which the students use currently. Your student will need to work at least 2 to 4 hours per day to keep up with their school work. Please remind them that they are not on vacation and need to do their schoolwork. The teachers will be available via email throughout the two weeks from March 16 through March 27. Spring break will take place March 28 through April 5. We would suggest making a plan with your student before Monday to make sure they set aside at least four hours of time during the day to focus on their school work. This is a great opportunity for your student to get an idea of what it is like to take an online class. This is also a great opportunity for them to learn responsibility for themselves and be a help around the house for a couple of weeks. Any student who missed school today can come into the office next week and pick up their learning materials between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. If your student is having trouble connecting with their teacher or needs more support, please have them call the office at 619-909-2826. Please continue to follow the health authority’s guidance in staying safe and healthy. We will be doing our part here at school by disinfecting the facility while the students are gone. At this time, the plan is to return to school on April 6. If that plan changes, we certainly will keep you informed.
Sincerely,
Tim Bagby Principal
