Intro to School Year 2019-2020
Dear AFCHS Family,
We are so excited to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year! Our staff is already working hard this summer to prepare for the best school year ever! Summer school is going incredibly well and plans for the school year are being completed! I am thrilled with the work that is going on and will be accomplished by the time your son or daughter begins school on August 26.
Included in this mailing you will find a couple of different items. The first is our calendar for the school year. You will see all of the amazing events that are planned for this year from the first day of school on August 26 to our very first graduation on June 25. Our first prom experience where all students will be able to participate as well as all of our academic celebrations throughout the year are listed. You will be able to find this information on our website soon as well.
For our incoming freshmen and transfers, the evening of Wednesday, August 21, will be very important. You will receive all of the information you need, including your schedule, to get the start of the school year off in the right direction. Please plan on attending as there will be prizes, games etc…
Also included in this mailing is information about our athletic program and a form for a physical that needs to be completed. This year, we will be offering girl’s volleyball and flag football in the fall, boys and girls basketball and soccer in the winter, and track and boy’s volleyball in the spring. On July 25 at 2:00 PM, our coaches for the fall sports will be here to introduce students and parents to our program and what will be happening this fall and throughout the year. It is important to attend this first meeting if you plan on playing a fall sport. If you want to participate in sports this fall but can’t attend this meeting, please email me as soon as possible. Our head PE coach, Mr. Felusme, will be working with me to guide our athletic program this year.
We have hired an amazing art teacher who will be teaching two sections of art classes as well as teaching some of our International Studies classes. Student clubs will be run by students with the guidance of our staff and a brand new Associated Student Body leadership team will be elected the first week of school. Student leadership will be a strong component as we move forward together as a school.
Please share the good news about our school and invite others to consider enrolling. We do have some room left in all classes. Remember to always watch our website or Facebook page for more information about your school.
Enjoy the balance of your summer and see you soon!
Mr. Tim Bagby
Principal
