Dear AFCHS Families,
We are currently in our last week of school before we go into Spring Break. Spring Break starts April 1st through April 12th. Progress Reports were sent home last week with our blue Intent to Enroll form for the year 2019-2020.
It is very important that we get the forms back by Friday, March 29th. You may not have space at AFCHS next year if you do not let us know that you are returning.
I would like to share with you that two weeks ago we had representatives from Cuyamaca College and San Diego City College come to our school and spoke to our students about their colleges and what they have to offer. We currently have four junior students taking a class at San Diego City College.
We have also started our After School Clubs this month. We currently have on Mondays Girls Soccer from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, Cooking from 3:45 pm - 4:30 pm (No bus), Tuesdays ART from 3:45 pm - 4:30 pm, Boys Soccer 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Thursdays Girls Soccer 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, GAMER 3:45 - 4:30 pm and Friday ART 3:45 - 4:45 pm (No Bus), Guitar 3:45 - 4:45 pm (No Bus). Please encourage your student to get involved at school! An involved high school student is a successful high school student!
A big congratulations to Yasmin Ali who won a week at Girls Take Flight Camp this past week. Yasmin wrote a paper that explained what she had been learning through our Engineering program and was chosen to participate from all of the high schools in San Diego. This camp focused on the use of drones in our society today and provided opportunities for students to fly, test and repair drones. We look forward to hearing from Yasmin when she returns.
Our International Studies students have been helping serve at St. Vincent De Paul better known at Father Joe’s. Our students are working on a project based on homelessness in San Diego. This trip provided an opportunity for our students to see first hand how to help those who are experiencing homelessness. We are very proud of our students as the study and serve our community.
Our school is accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year. We will be capping our freshman class at 50. All returning students are asked to turn in their blue re-enrollment form by March 29 to reserve their space for next year.
