Kim Brunetto

5th Grade Teacher

First and foremost, I am the mother of two beautiful and kind young adults.  My first born, Anthony is going to be 21 in December and is currently attending college in Santa Cruz, CA.  And my lovely daughter who is 16 attends SCPA ( San Diego Creative and Performing Arts School) in San Diego.  She is a vocalist.  They have been the "lights of my life" since they were born.  As a-matter-a-fact, I became a teacher when my son was 8 and my daughter was 4 years old.  Although previous to their births, I had a career as a manager with a Fortune 500 Real Estate Development Company, once they started school, I became inspired by my children's teachers.  I was in awe of their ability to bring a subject to life with their passion and wanted to emulate them, so I went back to school to get my teaching credential.  Time has flown by and I am now entering my 12th year of teaching.  Although up to now, I have primarily taught  5th grade with a Multiple-Subject Credential, I am embarking on a new adventure this year, by teaching middle school.  I have completed the coursework for a Single-Subject Credential and will be testing during this school year for it.  During the 2015-2016 school year I was chosen as the Teacher of the Year for the Charter School District, an accomplishment I am very proud of.  I have also acted as a mentor to teachers at AFCS and am a member of our Leadership Team.  My goal as a teacher is not only to advance my students academically, but to help them grow into self-realized young adults.
