5th Grade Teacher
I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. My parents migrated to the U.S. when I was 7 years old in the pursuit of better opportunities and an education. I grew up in the rural community of Arvin, CA. Growing up, my family faced many economic issues and schools became my safe place. I was a year-round athlete (Tennis, Soccer, and Track and Field Runner) in high school and through sports, received opportunities to pursue higher education.
I attended Bakersfield Community College (2 years), received a Track and Field and Cross Country scholarship to Dickinson State University in North Dakota and completed my Bachelor's Degree from Montana State University of Billings in Multiple Subjects (K-8) and Special Education (K-12) in the state of Montana.
Upon graduation, I taught 4th (Math/Science) and 6th (ELA and History) grades in addition to a 5th grade reading class of approximately 120 students daily. I then relocated to San Diego and worked as a 1st grade (inclusive) teacher. Later, taught EAK (Spanish Immersion) and 4th grade (Dual Immersion). Currently, I am pursuing my Master's in Educational Leadership to provide further support to students and families.
