Hello families of AFCS! My name is Tracy Horrex and I am the new Social Worker/Counselor for the TK-8th campus. I am originally from San Diego, went to undergrad in Seattle, and came back to California to get my Masters in Social Work from SDSU a few years after I graduated. In my free time I enjoy being with friends, exploring new places locally or traveling abroad, coffee, and going to SD Wave games (or any sports, really!).

 

As the Social Worker/Counselor, I'll be working to offer a range of social emotional supports, individual and group counseling, referrals to partner agencies, check-ins for students, and more! There is a direct connection between students' mental health and their academic performance and we recognize it as an important part of our students' and school's collective success. I want all students to have access to trusted adults as well as opportunities to learn and practice coping skills that will help support their journey's into adulthood and choice filled lives.
